"Where words fail, music speaks."
- Hans Christian Anderson
Hello!
My name is Shana Pistilli M.M. ed. I am the founder and owner of Rubato School of Music. As a music educator, I believe that all students regardless of physical or intellectual ability, should be offered the opportunity to discover and explore their potential as musicians.
In my experience, the goal of music education is not only to form an appreciation for the music of others, but also to encourage students to shape their own musical identity. I believe that every student can be impacted in some way from music and the arts.
Our Mission
At Rubato, our mission is to cultivate a community of acceptance, inclusion, and individualized music education. We are committed to embracing neurodiversity and ensuring that individuals of all skill levels will be taught in an engaging manner that is accepting of who they are and where their strengths lie. Through our inclusive approach, we welcome every individual to find their voice in the world of music.

Parent
It's hard to put into words the amount of joy my son expresses when he's finished playing a song using Shana's adaptive piano lessons. Shana really knows her stuff and is able to adapt her approach to the child's needs. We take videos and share them with our whole family every lesson! My son feels a real joy for music and nows a way of expressing it!

Each time I have had the great fortune to participate in a presentation led by Shana I leave with not only the tools but the confidence to educate and support all learners in my music room. Shana provides detailed and actionable ideas for lesson plans and projects that are designed to meet all students where they are. The lessons incorporate fun and innovative ways to engage students in the music classroom in ways that are both accessible and musically rigorous. In addition to her presentations, Shana serves as an excellent consultant for private lesson teachers who work with students with special needs. She takes the time to thoughtfully provide feedback, resources and action steps to make lessons successful and fun!
